The Km Club is an elementary school running program like no other. We run with a PURPOSE and that purpose is for kids to be healthy and active while HELPING OTHER KIDS whose families are struggling financially because of childhood cancer.
There were a record number of kids registered (178) at the 2012 Mundy Park Kids Trail Race even though this is not a school event isn’t it great to see so many proudly sporting their school colors, representing 28 schools in total, from Albion to West Vancouver. AIK (Athletes in Kind) is a local charity initiated by Lorie Muller of Pitt Meadows, B.C. The campaign was launched on April 30th, 2005 at the Muller House Studio & Gallery. The response to supporting "Athletes in Kind" has been amazing but not surprising given the generous communities we live in.
Since 2005, we have donated over $100,000 to the BC Childhood Cancer Parents Association. Athletes in Kind funds BCCCPA (B.C. Childhood Cancer Parents Association) at Vancouver Children's Hospital. BCCCPA serves as the eyes and legs for AIK by distributing 100% of the donations that come through AIK for the support of families in need. Your donations go directly to BCCCPA through CanadaHelps.org. AIK is an official partner of BCCCPA. Find out more about BCCCPA.
Athletes In Kind has teamed up with several local companies that share the same philosophy of giving back to the community and the less fortunate. Fundraising with a giving purpose is key to a successful event. Thank you to everyone who came out to the 4th annual Mundy Park Trail Race. It was very much Kids Helping Kids.
The weather was ideal for running or cheering and there were plenty of both! The participants were so eager to run in fact that they were lined up 15 min before the start and though there aren’t official times this year did have the feel of some very fast running by the winner’s of both distances.
