It was a perfect day for the inaugural running of the OktoberFAST 5k, 10k & Kids Fun Run. There were many highlights but the total money raised for families battling cancer is at the top of the list, $12,125.00!
The running started with the Kids OktoberFUN Run through Osprey Village. Super cute kids helping kids.
5k – Tina-Louise Harris (21:46) was the first female.
5k – Paul Craik (19:04) was first for the men.
10k – Maggie Graydon (44:49)edged out Tori Bandringa (44:50) for the top spot in the 10k with a healthy back and forth exchange of the lead.
10k – Sam LaChance (39:24) put in a solid effort to secure the 10k for the men.
Thank you again for supporting this community charity event.
We hope to see you at the Generation Run on New Years Day in Osprey Village.
Jan Saunders Award
The Jan Saunders Memorial Award was presented to Les and Jan Muller. They have quietly volunteered behind the scenes at every AIK event and were recognized with this annual trophy.
Dave Dunbar, representing BC Childhood Cancer Parents Association, once again shared his personal message of what it means to have a child in cancer treatment and how BCCCPA helps families who have a child in cancer treatment. This is why we volunteer, cheer, sponsor, pledge and run. Thank you Dave and your team from BCCCPA.
Pledging and Sponsors
The contest for most pledges raised was won, by a wide margin, by Ashlene Hutton with over $800.00. She gets outfitted in runner gear form head to toe thanks to our sponsors. That sponsor is a long one:
